Today's Inmates are Tomorrow's Neighbors
Equipping the Saints
We provide discipleship training that helps Christians follow the call of Christ to minister to the "least of these" in our jails, prisons, and communities.
Check out our free and deeply discounted discipleship curriculum by nationally known authors.
We provide a progressive discipleship path that not only helps offenders grow but prepares them to become productive citizens upon release.
Second Chance Church
We show churches how they can do the healing work of reconciliation among those who have caused harm, those who have been hurt, and help connect to a church home and the community.
What if you were known for the worst thing you've ever done?
Would you want a chance to redefine yourself?
To be transformed and to have a fresh start?
WHO WE ARE
We were murderers. We were thieves. We were gang leaders. We were drug dealers. We were wounded. We were separated from God. We were lost.
Now, we are found and accepted by God. We are business men and women. We are pastors. We are counselors. We are chaplains. We are laymen. We are professionals. We are fathers and mothers. We are husbands and wives. We are transformed. We are servants. We are givers. We are saved. We are community. We are disciplers of others. We are IDF.
“An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.” Martin Luther King, Jr.
Established in 1990 as a student program at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Inmate Discipler Fellowship (IDF) incorporated in 1997 with support from the seminary, the Baptist General Convention of Texas, Texas Baptist Men, Tarrant Baptist Association and several area churches. We’re pioneers of innovative discipleship programs that connect the nation’s churches; professional staff members, lay leadership and theology students with convicted felons. Our discipleship and faith-based re-entry programs are proven solutions for transformed inmates who thrive on the challenge of discipleship and accountability.
We’re on a mission to stimulate positive life transformation by providing Christian discipleship resources to transform lives touched by the criminal justice system.
WHAT WE DO
A unique problem calls for a unique solution. We have our hands full with both. Prison isn’t just an economic drain, but a human one as well. As with any (social) problem, if left unchecked, it can become an epidemic, infecting the very core of our society. Our goal is to be on the front line, diving into the source of the problem and reclaiming the human spirit.
HOW WE DO IT
IDF participants are like raw clay in the hands of a potter - crude, formless, and yet totally moldable. We work with those whom society has cast off and instead of sending them back out to commit more crimes, we disciple them, preparing them with new values, life skills and challenge them to maintain high standards for their lives. We’re determined advocates - tapping into America’s most overlooked talent pool, influential convicted felons. We’re developers - serving as a catalyst for total turnaround of our underdogs. We’re disciplers - connecting inmates in a deeper love relationship with Jesus Christ to passionately prepare them to incite measurable change, inside the prisons and then back into their communities.
Take action with IDF and become part of the solution for our underdog participants. By giving your time, experience and funds, our participants get one step closer to their goals – Christ like transformation. Here’s how you can get involved … Pray, Partner or Participate.
Your gift empowers us to pursue our mission to incite Christ centered change in our participants. Thank you for your partnership.
